In my experience raising my son, there were a lot of late dinners and drive through moments during the young basketball days. We frequently ate on the run, and packed snacks as we traveled from gym to gym for practices and games. I made it a habit to pack healthy snacks, fruits, nuts, and most importantly plenty of water to drink along the way. While there were a few times that the quickest meal consisted of a hamburger and french fries, I was committed to making those visits far and few between when it came to feeding my young son who wanted to be an athlete. It was not an easy task, but it was well worth avoiding taking him back and forth to the doctor for illnesses that could have compromised his growing body frame. Healthy eating was very important and just another part of the mission of making sure that he was strong and healthy.
